The Tumble Inn Manager Victoria Walker and Duty Manager Charlene Grunewald were presented with certificates of commendation from Wetherspoon, to
highlight their exemplary conduct.
On the afternoon of Sunday 27 May, a man with multiple stab wounds
entered The Tumble Inn, seeking help and safety, following an incident at a
local flat. Victoria and Charlene immediately called an ambulance and administered first
aid, before the paramedics arrived to assist and take the victim to the Royal
Glamorgan Hospital, the swift actions of the staff staff helped to save the man.
Richard Bond, Wetherspoon’s regional manager, said: “We are proud of the manner in which Victoria and Charlene acted to help someone in need. This presentation is an opportunity to recognise and reward their actions. “Their swift, professional and exemplary response to the incident likely saved his life.”
Victoria added: “The incident was very out of the ordinary for us and, although not connected to the pub, we were compelled to assist and glad we were able to do so. We wish him a full recovery. "I am very proud of how myself and the team dealt with the situation. Both myself and Charlene also appreciate receiving the award and recognition from Wetherspoon."
The Town Mayor of Pontypridd, Councillor Lynda Davies, together with representatives from South Wales Police, RCT County Borough Council and the BID, also attended the presentation ceremony
which took place at The Tumble Inn. Both Owen Smith MP and Mick Antoniw AM, who were unable to attend, owing
to sitting in the House, passed on their best wishes to the pair.
The BID would like to congratulate the staff on their awards and are pleased to see them recognised for their incredible response to a very difficult situation, the Wetherspoons staff were also praised by the local pub community in a recent Pubwatch meeting, and Manager Victoria Walker was able to give some very valuable advice to other managers on how to deal with a similar situation.
