Hope Rescue receives 'Best Dressed BID Christmas Window 2019' Award

Hope Rescue Pontypridd has won the Annual Christmas Window Competition organised by the Your Pontypridd Business Improvement District for a third year running. Hope Rescue faced strong competition with many new businesses taking part in the competition, and many wonderful displays across the town. Hope Rescue came out on top once again with another fantastic festive display created by their volunteers. Staff at Hope Rescue were given their award and abouquet of flowersby Your Pontypridd Projects Officer James Payne, Hope Rescue will also receive one month's worth of advertising on the digital billboard owned by the Your Pontypridd Business Improvement District at the Turning Circle in the town.

The volunteers were delighted to win the award again and added that ' The Window is very important for the shop, it's great for visitors coming in to see all the festive displays and gets everyone in the Christmas sprit, we are delighted to be recognised with this award.' Hope Rescue also came out top of the public vote with fantastic support from all their friends and customers voting for them on the Your Pontypridd Facebook page. The competition was once again very popular on social media with hundreds voting in an effort to get their favourite into the top 5 for judging.

The top five windows - Hope Rescue, Leek and Weston, Georges Barbers, Gwynns Opticians and St Vincents all made it into the exciting judging process where the windows werejudged by Gavin Powell ( Promotions Manager of GTFM), Loretta Tomkinson (Pontypridd Town Council Mayor), Becky Davies (Lecturer in Creative and Therapeutic Arts at University of South Wales), Alan Humphreys (Chair of Your Pontypridd Marketing Committee) & Ann Hayes (Creative Industries & Arts Manager at Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council). The judges were impressed with the standard and each of the windows had their own highlights. Pontypridd Town Mayor Lorettta Tomkinson said that the 'Hope Rescue display had the wow factor and would definitely make people stop and look' there was also high praise for Leek and Weston's display who were very worthy of their runners up spot, Alan Humphreys calling the display 'incredibly innovative.'

Bravery, innovation, leadership, selflessness: just some of the attributes that were celebrated last night with the return of the annual South Wales Police Awards last night. The awards, held at Brangwyn Hall in Swansea, recognised officers, staff, volunteers and partners who have gone above and beyond for the force and the communities served by South Wales Police. The Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team which serves the community of Pontypridd, were nominated for two awards - the Police Community Support Officer of the Year Award & the Police and Crime Commissioner Exceptional Problem Solving in Partnership Award. The Taff team were successful in securing both awards, a major achievement for the town's local Policing team. The first award for the Taff Neighbourhood Policing Team went to PCSO Hannah Lowe who was described as the "Heart and soul of Pontypridd town" - Hannah Lowe, who is committed to tackling crime and disorder and is an integral part of initiatives including Pontypridd Outreach, a Halloween trail and a building painting project.
